This week I had the pleasure to soend few words with Dami, wholesale manager for
MISS L FIRE...
check out what she told us!!
Hi Dami, how are you? I’m very well thanks. However it’s basically autumn in London at the moment. How are you?
Would you like to tell us a little more about L, owner and founder of the brand? I know she worked for other shoe companies..
Lynsey studied at the De Montfort in Leicester which is one of the most prestigious colleges for studying shoe design and the technical aspect of it. She then got her first job at Ravel as an Assistant Buyer.
A few years later Lyns started her career at Office which would last for 8 years. She was Buying Director at the time. Do you know Poste Mistress? Lyns created this while at Office and in my opinion is one of the best shoe stores in the world!
In 2005 after a little time at LK Bennett as one of the designers, Lynsey launched Miss L Fire. The brand reflects Lynsey’s love for the golden era of the 40’s and 50’s Hollywood. Miss L Fire is also often inspired by the 20’s and 30’s especially by Adrian (Greenberg) and Paul Poiret.
And what do you exactly do?
I’m a Wholesale Manager which sounds extremely boring and corporate but it is actually quite fun! I manage mainly the sales and production but, as it’s only 5 of us in the office, I also get involved with marketing and product development!
Where does she take the inspiration for the collections? The design is very rockabilly and we love it!
We often get inspired during our trips in the US where we always try and get time to stop at ‘Antiques stores’ where you can find clothes, pieces of textiles, books and photos from the 40’s and 50’s. They’re not really vintage stores, they’re real bazaars – once we stopped in the middle of nowhere in Pennsylvania which had the most unreal stuff!
In terms of lasts and design we are big fan of Ferragamo for sure!
I know it's not easy to find your pieces, do you make some kind of selection about the stores? Can you tell me some online store where is possibile to buy your shoes???
Our product is quite quirky and edgy, I wouldn’t say we’re too selective but we obviously want to know that our customer can sell the product.
Our biggest window is Anthropologie in the US, but since a lot of online stores have now open platforms to different countries, you can find our shoes on Asos.com, Modcloth, Sarenza, Zalando and from September on Spartoo.
And…of course our web shop is open 24/7 with most of the styles! We ship everywhere in the world!!

Vuoi iniziare con raccontarmi un pò la storia di L. , fondatrice del marchio, so che ha iniziato lavorando per altri marchi, per poi metterne su uno tutto suo…
Lynsey (Hand) ha studiato alla De Montfort University a Leicester, una delle scuole di design e manifatturazione di scarpe piu’ importanti, per poi iniziare a lavorare come Buyer Assistant per Ravel. E’ stata una sua idea ai tempi del suo periodo a Office. E’ uno dei negozi di scarpe piu’ belli al mondo!

E tu di cosa ti occupi? Sono Wholesale Manager...che suona estremamente ‘corporate’ e noioso ma in realta’ e’ un ruolo molto divertente. Mi occupo prettamente di vendite e produzione, ma siccome siamo solo in 5 in ufficio c’e’ spazio per tante cose in piu’ come marketing e sviluppo del prodotto.
Da dove prende ispirazione per le sue collezioni, il design è fortemente Rockabilly… ( e ci piace!!)
Spesso l’ispirazione nasce dai nostri viaggi in America dove c’e’ sempre spazio per fermarsi nei cosi’ detti ‘Antiques stores’ dove si trovano spesso vestiti, tessuti, libri e fotografie degli anni 40/50. Credimi non sono Vintage stores...sono dei veri e propri bazar di cianfrusaglie – una volta ci siamo fermate in uno nel mezzo del nulla in Pennsylvania che aveva le cose piu’ assurde!
Se parliamo in termini di forme e design siamo grandi fan di Ferragamo!
Ascolta so che non è facilissimo trovare i vostri pezzi, fate una una specie di selezione per quanto riguarda i punti vendita, sai dirmi negozi e siti online dov'è possibile acquistare le vostre scarpe?
Le nostre scarpe sono particolari
Non direi che siamo selettive nello scegliere i nostri clienti, ma siccome le scarpe sono particolari dobbiamo vendere a boutique che riescono a vendere il nostro prodotto.
Il nostro piu’ grande cliente e’ Anthropologie in America, ma adesso con il fatto che molti siti online hanno aperto piattaforme anche all’estero e’ possibile trovarle su Asos.com, Sarenza, Zalando e da Settembre anche su Spartoo.
E ovviamente il nostro sito online e’ aperto 24 su 24 con la maggior parte dei modelli. Spediamo ovunque nel mondo!
